The workshop offers a general introduction to the topics of sexual orientation and gender diversity. Over the course of two hours, participants will gain a fundamental understanding of LGBTIQ+ subject matters. Our focus lies on familiarising participants with key terms and concepts, as well as fostering solidarity and empathy. Through interactive exercises, we encourage students to share their perspectives and engage in collective discussion.
Content
- Activity: “Positioning game” to gauge pupils’ existing knowledge and perspectives and to stimulate respectful discussions on selected queer topics
- Introduction to gender diversity
- Introduction to the topic of sexual orientation
- Questioning binary thinking and rigid categorisations
- Activity: Working together to develop strategies to support queer people and create queer-friendly contexts
Objectives
- Educating about the lived realities, needs and challenges of LGBTIQ+ people
- Raising awareness and offering food for thought to promote openness and empathy
- Counteracting prejudices and stereotypes
- Fostering an environment of solidarity and support within the group, the classroom, and the school
